There has been a significant increase in veteran-focused organizations that work to promote progressive values among both current and former me
The number of progressive veterans in the United States is growing. In recent years, many veterans have become politically active and are advocating for social, economic and environmental justice. There has been a significant increase in veteran-focused organizations that work to promote progressive values among both current and former members of the military. There are now more than two million post-9/11 veterans in the United States, many of whom identify as progressive. These veterans often bring unique perspectives to the table due to their experiences serving on the front lines, participating in combat operations and experiencing life abroad. Progressive veterans are advocating for an array of issues ranging from transitioning out of military service with job security and benefits, to increasing support for mental health services and suicide prevention initiatives for those who have served or continue to serve. They also recognize that climate change is an existential threat to national security and advocate for policies that will reduce carbon emissions while investing in renewable energy sources. These groups are also working to end militarized policing practices around the country, while supporting criminal justice reform initiatives at a local level. All these efforts come together to create a larger movement towards creating a socially just and equitable society for all people.
